Overview
The successful candidate will lead end-to-end delivery of ICT projects that are strategically important to the agency. While not responsible for hands on technical delivery, the role requires strong technical aptitude and a genuine interest in understanding the solutions being delivered.
You will be expected to provide clear leadership, maintain structured delivery practices, manage risk proactively, and communicate effectively across business, technical and executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end to end project delivery including planning, execution and closure
- Develop and maintain governance artefacts including schedules, status reporting, RAIDD logs and transition to operations activities
- Engage stakeholders and technical teams to align scope, dependencies and risks
- Manage vendor relationships, performance and contractual obligations to ensure value for money outcomes
- Oversee project finances including budgeting, forecasting and reporting
- Provide clear, high quality written and verbal communication to all stakeholders
Key Details
- Must be an Australian Citizen with an AGSVA Baseline security clearance (minimum); NV1 preferred.
- Canberra based with hybrid working arrangements.
- Initial 12 month contract with possible 2 x 12 month extension options.
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of 5 years experience in ICT project management within complex environments
- Proven experience delivering projects end to end including scope, schedule, budget, risk and transition to operations
- Strong technical aptitude across cloud infrastructure, cloud migrations, on premises infrastructure, networking, data flows and security concepts
- Ability to review technical solution approaches at a conceptual level and ensure alignment with project objectives
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and leadership skills
- Experience working within government project governance and procurement frameworks
- Strong experience in financial oversight and vendor performance management
Desirable Criteria
- Experience delivering ICT projects in a government or regulated environment
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, M365 or identity and access management solutions
- Exposure to infrastructure modernisation, application upgrades or workplace transformation initiatives
- Project management certification such as PRINCE2, AgilePM or PMP
- Familiarity with Australian Government digital and cybersecurity frameworks including the Digital Service Standard and Essential Eight
