About The Role

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join Airbnb’s Storefronts team, which is responsible for the front-door experience of Airbnb’s guest product platform. In this role, you will play a critical part in developing and delivering features that enhance user navigation, discovery, and engagement on Airbnb’s homepage and search pages. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, product management, data science, and other engineering groups to create scalable, high-performance solutions that serve millions of users worldwide. Your contributions will directly impact how guests explore and connect with Airbnb’s offerings, supporting the company's mission to help people belong anywhere.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in developing backend applications and APIs using Java
• Experience with service monitoring and alerting techniques
• Strong product sense with the ability to balance technical and user experience requirements
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional and non-technical partners
• Willingness to embrace challenges and adapt to changing priorities with a positive attitude
• Experience with AI tools and developing new features for guest and team tools (preferred)
• Nice to have: Experience with GraphQL, Kotlin, Thrift IDL, server-driven architectures

Responsibilities

• Develop new APIs to power interfaces that enable users to navigate and discover Airbnb’s products effectively
• Improve the performance and robustness of backend services and architecture supporting Airbnb’s homepage and search functionalities
• Contribute to the development of innovative product features and experiences in collaboration with a cross-disciplinary team of engineers
• Leverage AI tools to create new features for enhancing guest experiences and streamlining team workflows
• Work closely with design, product, marketing, and data science teams to bring new features from concept to production
• Participate in technical improvements to increase product quality and team velocity
• Support and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure backend systems
