AI Engineer – Remote (Germany-based) – €80,000

A product-driven software company is actively searching for a Senior AI Engineer to help implement and scale AI capabilities within its platform.

The role sits within a small, experienced engineering team and focuses on hands-on, production-grade AI development rather than research or experimentation.

This position is well suited to senior, opinionated engineers who enjoy building robust AI systems, working in complex environments, and challenging technical approaches constructively.

The role

• Implement AI-based use cases and integrate them into existing systems
• Build and maintain production-ready AI-enabled features
• Design and implement agent-based or multi-agent approaches, moving beyond POC-level solutions
• Contribute architectural input while remaining fully hands-on
• Ensure reliability, performance, and maintainability of AI-powered components in production environments

Requirements

• Strong background in software engineering
• Proven experience building AI-powered systems in production, ideally in enterprise or regulated environments
• Hands-on experience with Python, Java, or Node.js
• Practical experience with modern AI frameworks and approaches such as: agentic or multi-agent systems, RAG and document-centric AI

Nice to have

• Experience designing or operating agent-based systems beyond proof-of-concept
• Understanding of orchestration patterns and concepts such as Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• Experience operating AI systems in production (monitoring, reliability, MLOps)
• Background in NLP or document-heavy domains
