About the Programme:
Our client’s Credit Risk Technology team is in charge of supporting the business functions of Credit Risk Management and Credit Risk Analytics platforms. Responsible for maintenance and development of these risk platforms, the Credit Risk Technology team operates on a global scale within the bank’s Risk & Capital Technology department.
Bank’s ETL services are responsible for extracting and transforming reference, market and risk data from various sources, which is then transferred into the in-house protocol buffer data format that is heavily used by the Credit Risk engine. The client is currently in the process of implementing a business-critical project designing new Credit Risk application system features, including developing microservices for each data type and conducting code optimization tasks.
About the Role and Responsibilities:
Phi Partners is looking to on-board a talented Python Developer to join our client’s Credit Risk
Technology function in Bucharest. You will become part of an established Prism ETL pod, joining a
collaborative team of engineers focused on enhancing a business-critical Credit Risk data platform. The platform is responsible for extracting, transforming, and loading large-scale market, reference, and trade-level data into the bank’s core Credit Risk engines, directly supporting risk calculations for live trading activity.
In this role, you will work closely with Credit Risk Analysts, Data Scientists, and senior engineers to
design and build Python-based ETL workflows and microservices that handle different financial data types and interface directly with the Credit Risk engine. This is a hands-on engineering position offering strong exposure to large scale data processing, microservices architecture, and front-office risk technology within a global investment bank environment. The role is well suited to a junior Python developer (around 1–3 years’ experience) who is eager to grow their skills while contributing to a high impact team. The working model is hybrid, with on-site presence in the Bucharest office expected two days per week.
Key Skills:
To Be successful in this role, the ideal candidate:
• Strong Python development experience (1+ years), with a solid understanding of writing clean,
maintainable code
• Experience working with data processing and ETL workflows
• Hands-on experience with Python data libraries such as NumPy and Pandas
• Exposure to microservices architecture and service-oriented systems
• Experience building or consuming web services (e.g., Flask, FastAPI)
• Familiarity with gRPC and Protocol Buffers
• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
• Understanding of automated testing practices (unit and integration testing)
• Strong analytical mindset and interest in large-scale data and financial systems
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team environment
