For this role, you will be assigned to Team Delphi within Royal Schiphol Group.

About the Team

Team Delphi plays a pivotal role in forecasting passenger flows across Schiphol Airport. These forecasts are critical to both daily airport operations and long-term strategic planning. As a Data Scientist, your work directly supports the smooth movement of millions of passengers through one of Europe’s busiest airports.

Your Role

As a Data Scientist, you will design, develop, and operationalize forecasting models that drive planning and decision-making. You’ll work with modern, cloud-native technologies and contribute to the continuous evolution of Schiphol’s forecasting and machine learning infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, productionize, and maintain machine learning models and data pipelines for forecasting
• Implement monitoring and observability to ensure model performance and reliability
• Collaborate closely with ML engineers, architects, and business stakeholders
• Explore and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to improve forecasting accuracy and efficiency
• Align technical solutions with product strategy in close cooperation with the Product Owner

Technology Stack

• Azure (cloud platform)
• Databricks
• Containerized deployments
• Experience with MLflow, PySpark, or Streamlit is a strong plus

Your Profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in machine learning or data science
• Strong Python programming skills
• Proven experience with MLOps and cloud platforms (preferably Azure)
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and deploying models in production
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to distinguish core problems from secondary issues
• Excellent communication skills
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Practical Details

• Full relocation support, including housing and administrative processes.
• Workload: 32 hours per week
• Salary: €4,750 – €6,000 (depending on experience)
