Role Purpose & Environment

As Senior Data Scientist in Data and Analytics Centre of Excellence (CoE), you will lead the development and enhancement of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions across key business domains. You will partner closely with stakeholders to understand strategic objectives, identify high-value opportunities, and deliver practical, data-driven solutions that create measurable business impact. You bring strong business acumen, curiosity and a bias for action in a dynamic environment.


About You

You are an experienced and pragmatic Data Scientist who is energised by solving complex, real-world problems. You excel at working across teams, shaping analytical approaches, and managing expectations with clarity and confidence. You anticipate challenges early, adapt your approach when priorities shift, and maintain a strong focus on delivering practical outcomes. You hold yourself to a high standard while supporting others, and you bring curiosity, commercial awareness, and a collaborative mindset to everything you do.


Responsibilities

  • Advanced Model Development: Design, build and enhance machine learning and statistical models to address complex business problems and drive strategic decision-making.
  • Data Analysis & Insight Generation: Conduct in-depth analysis across diverse datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities, delivering actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Business Problem Solving: Engage with stakeholders to understand challenges and translate them into structured analytical questions, shaping solutions that align with business priorities and customer needs.
  • Collaboration & Capability Uplift: Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, data engineers and business teams, sharing best practices and contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the CoE.
  • Documentation & Communication: Produce clear documentation of methodologies, models, and analytical outputs, and communicate findings in a compelling and accessible way to both technical and non-technical audiences.


What we are looking for

  • Machine Learning & Statistical Modelling: 5-8 years hands-on experience designing, developing, deploying and iterating on machine learning models and advanced statistical techniques.
  • Programming & Data Manipulation: Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and dbt with deep experience using data manipulation and modelling libraries, as well as visualisation tools.
  • Cloud Computing Proficiency: Experience using cloud environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP, and familiarity with cloud-native data science tooling and workflows. Prior working experience with Databricks is required.
  • Domain Expertise & Problem Solving: Strong ability to apply data science within business context, with demonstrated domain understanding, creative analytical thinking, and a track record of influencing decisions through data-driven insights.
