What is the opportunity?

In Advanced Analytics, you will work as part of a dynamic and high-reaching team, and be a driving force behind digital transformation at Ireland's leading financial institution. You will gain significant exposure to develop complex, advanced data science solutions end to end. You will improve the use of applied statistics and supervised/unsupervised machine learning techniques on structured and unstructured datasets. This work involves extracting value from numerous, disparate, complex data sources to solve foundational business problems for our customers.

In This Role, You Will

  • Use advanced analytics to provide insight into the customer base, developing independent measures such as customer activity, product penetration, share of wallet and transactional behaviour preferences.
  • Build, validate & maintain end to end Machine Learning pipelines, that provide actionable insight into business processes and strategy for Senior Leaders.
  • Conduct data science related engineering to create new data stores and productionised data features, to embed and scale machine learning and other analytics models.
  • Migrate existing data science workloads to the cloud ensuring data governance and compliance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from across the Bank to eliminate silos, to drive the adoption of the Enterprise Data Warehouse & Enterprise Data Lake and to share standard process.
  • Engage Senior Business network across Retail, Corporate & Marketing to generate demand, discover issues and innovate solutions.
  • Build high quality Data Visualisations and Dashboards that engage partners and address business problems.
  • Contribute to a creative data driven culture centred on an agile environment, problem solving and design thinking, contributing data science expertise to new sales activities.
  • Promote awareness of analytics, emerging industry trends (inc. regulation) and a digital future.


What will make you stand out?

  • Demonstrated ability in data analytics, including experience with multiple machine learning techniques (Xgboost, Decision Trees, Ensembles, Supervised & Unsupervised learning).
  • Experience in MLOps, model monitoring and explainability.
  • Confirmed experience in extracting value from structured and unstructured datasets using data science tools and techniques.
  • Extensive experience of using common programming languages (Python and SQL preferred) and different statistics and machine learning libraries (Pandas, scikit-learn, PySpark etc).
  • Demonstrable experience in developing complex solutions utilising leading data science tools such as Cloudera AI, AWS or similar.
  • Strong interpretative and analytical skills, with the confidence to provide a professional, objective and independent viewpoint.
  • Experience of delivery to challenging targets with a shown ability to handle contending deadlines.


Desirable Skills

  • Experience in Financial Services Data Analytics & Senior Partner Management.
  • Knowledge of LLMs, Gen. AI & agentic workflows.
  • Understanding of process flow, data management, GDPR and data lineage concepts.
  • Experience of data engineering including optimizing big data ETL pipeline, code refactoring and performance monitoring will set you apart.


Essential Qualifications

Third Level qualification, in mathematics, statistics, finance, IT, or another field including a significant numerical element

More about the team

Reporting to the Chief Data & Analytics Officer (CDAO), the Advanced Analytics team is responsible for the development and execution of the Bank's data analytics strategy. The role holder will deliver value-prioritised analytics & AI projects that are closely aligned to the Groups strategic ambition on behalf of internal customers; and contribute to identifying appropriate framework tools and standards to enable Bank of Ireland to become a data driven organisation at all levels of the company.

The role is hybrid and can be performed anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location in Baggot Plaza. Travel will be required for in-person collaboration -exact frequency to be agreed with manager.
