QA Engineer

About the role

StormGeo is seeking a QA Engineer to join our Routing Advisory Services (RAS) product team and support the delivery of reliable, high-quality maritime software solutions.

In this role, you will work closely with frontend and backend engineers, product managers, designers, and senior QA engineers to validate functionality, identify defects early, and ensure a smooth and dependable user experience. The team is continuing to develop and strengthen its test automation capabilities, so prior experience with automated testing is highly valued; however, candidates with a strong manual testing background and a clear motivation to grow into automation are also encouraged to apply.

This position is well suited for a QA professional who is building a strong foundation in software quality practices and is motivated to grow their technical skills, testing expertise, and product understanding in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Main Responsibilities

• Execute manual and automated tests for user-facing applications related to vessel routing, weather insights, and operational decision support.
• Design, maintain, and execute test cases and test scenarios based on product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Perform functional, regression, and exploratory testing as part of regular development and release cycles.
• Collaborate closely with frontend and backend engineers to reproduce issues, verify fixes, and improve overall product quality.
• Validate integrations with backend services and APIs to ensure correct data handling and system behavior.
• Work closely with senior QA engineers to learn best practices, improve test coverage, and continuously develop testing skills.
• Participate in sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives with a quality-focused mindset.
• Document test results, defects, and quality risks clearly and consistently.

Core Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in a QA Engineer or Software Test Engineer role.
• Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals, including test design, execution, and defect reporting.
• Experience testing web applications, either manually or using test automation tools.
• Basic experience working with REST APIs and backend integrations.
• Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Strong attention to detail and a structured, analytical approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently on assigned testing activities while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and clearly communicating findings.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments.
• Basic knowledge of SQL for data validation and troubleshooting.
• Interest in maritime, weather, or data-driven products.
• Exposure to test automation frameworks.
