Lead of operational crypto compliance

Full-time | Europe focus (EU and Switzerland)

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior crypto AML/CTF compliance professional to take ownership of Cense’s Operational Compliance function, with a strong focus on crypto-asset risk and financial crime prevention.

This role is hands-on by design. You will act as a senior individual contributor while shaping and scaling our Compliance Operations Department.

The position sits at the intersection of crypto, regulation, product and client delivery. You will support banks across the EU and Switzerland in their assessment and adoption of crypto-related activities.

You will set up and continuously improve compliance processes that primarily facilitate HNI crypto risk assessments for financial institutions, while engaging directly with bank compliance teams and supporting the operational adoption of crypto solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Operations

• Build, implement and continuously improve AML/CTF operational processes
• Establish policies, procedures, workflows and internal controls from the ground up
• Ensure clear documentation and audit-ready structures
• Structure and support the function as it grows

Crypto Risk and Financial Crime

• Lead and execute crypto risk assessments
• Apply transaction typologies, blockchain investigation insights and risk scoring methodologies
• Ensure alignment with EU and Swiss AML/CTF regulatory frameworks
• Translate regulatory requirements into defensible operational processes

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Product, Engineering and Legal teams
• Embed AML/CTF requirements into technical solutions and workflows
• Assess compliance implications of product features
• Contribute to risk-based product design decisions

Client Engagement

• Engage directly with bank compliance teams and decision-makers
• Engage directly with (HNI) crypto owners for complex cases
• Explain complex crypto-asset risks in a structured and pragmatic manner
• Contribute to client documentation, whitepapers and training materials

Profile

• 5+ years of AML/CTF experience within regulated financial services, financial crime or risk functions
• At least 1 year of direct, hands-on crypto-asset experience, for example within a crypto exchange, VASP or blockchain analytics firm
• Strong understanding of transaction monitoring, risk scoring, customer risk assessments and escalation processes
• Solid familiarity with EU and Swiss AML/CTF regulatory expectations for crypto-assets
• Ability to translate regulatory requirements into operational frameworks
• ACAMS or equivalent certification is a strong plus

You are structured, detail-oriented and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy. You combine integrity and strong judgement with a pragmatic mindset. You communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Fluency in English is required. Additional European languages are an advantage.
