Job Title: Backend Engineer

Location: Krakow, Poland

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer with strong Java expertise to design, build, and scale high-performance backend services. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in modern backend architectures, cloud-native development, API design, and distributed systems, with exposure to AI-driven solutions considered a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java.
• Build and optimize REST APIs and GraphQL schemas for high-performance applications.
• Implement microservices using Spring Boot, Spring Batch, and Spring Cloud.
• Develop and maintain data streaming pipelines using Confluent Kafka.
• Design and manage NoSQL data models using Azure Cosmos DB.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using OAuth 2.0 and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Deploy and manage applications on Azure Cloud (App Services, API Management, Azure Monitor, etc.).
• Collaborate with architects, product teams, and frontend developers to deliver robust solutions.
• Ensure best practices in performance, scalability, reliability, and code quality.

Required Skills & Experience

• 9–10 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Java 8/11/17.
• Solid experience in REST API design and development.
• Experience with GraphQL schema design.
• Hands-on expertise with Spring Boot, Spring Batch, and Spring Cloud.
• Experience with Azure cloud services and microservices architecture.
• Knowledge of data streaming technologies such as Confluent Kafka.
• Experience implementing authentication and authorization (OAuth 2.0, MSFT EntraID).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and backend best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to AI/ML integrations or AI-powered backend services.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and DevOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
