The Senior Project Manager (Construction) role sits within the council’s Portfolios, Programmes and Projects (PPP) Service — a well‑established function that delivers transformation, change and capital construction projects across the whole organisation, overseeing a programme of major construction projects, including £30+ million education-related projects, alongside infrastructure, harbourside and children’s home developments. This work directly contributes to improving outcomes for children, young people and communities across Bristol.
It is a particularly exciting time to join the team as we undergo a period of change and growth. We are strengthening our approach, reshaping our delivery culture, and establishing a high standard for construction project delivery.
You will play a pivotal role in this transition — leading project teams, helping to embed best practice, uplift capability and set new expectations for excellence and consistency across complex construction programmes.
You will bring significant experience in leading large construction projects, with robust technical capability — including a strong working knowledge of CDM regulations and site‑based delivery practices — ensuring compliance, safety and effective coordination with contractors, designers and internal teams.
We welcome applications from those ready to take a significant step in their career, combining leadership, commercial judgement and technical expertise within a well‑resourced and high‑profile programme.
