Data Engineer
(Full-time, Hybrid, Bucharest)
We are looking for a Data Engineer who is passionate about building scalable, high-quality data platforms and enjoys working with complex, high-volume datasets. The ideal candidate is someone who combines strong technical expertise with a pragmatic mindset, understands the importance of data reliability and performance, and collaborates closely with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to transform raw data into trusted, business-critical insights. You will play a key role in shaping data architecture, improving data pipelines, and enabling advanced analytics in a fast-growing, data-driven environment.
Our client operates in the global logistics and supply chain technology space, delivering advanced data analytics and benchmarking solutions for international freight markets. The company develops a cloud-based SaaS platform that brings transparency, intelligence, and data-driven decision-making to an industry traditionally known for complexity and opacity.
As a Data Engineer, you will contribute to the development and evolution of a large-scale data platform that processes, models, and delivers complex logistics and market data for advanced analytics and business intelligence. You will work on projects focused on data ingestion, transformation, governance, and performance optimization, supporting both batch and near real-time use cases. The role offers direct exposure to modern data engineering practices, cloud technologies, and high-impact data products used by global customers.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data architectures for analytics and reporting
- Develop and optimize batch and real-time data pipelines using modern data engineering tools
- Model and transform data using SQL-based approaches to support analytics and data science use cases
- Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and performance across the data platform
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to understand data requirements
- Integrate new data sources and continuously improve existing data flows
- Optimize storage and compute costs in a cloud-based environment
- Implement and support data governance and best practices
- Document data models, pipelines, and architectural decisions
- Stay up to date with emerging data engineering technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Candidate profile
Technical skills & experience
- 3+ years of experience in a Data Engineer or similar role
- Strong experience designing and maintaining scalable data pipelines
- Advanced SQL skills and solid experience in data modeling
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Strong understanding of modern data warehouses, ideally Snowflake
- Experience with workflow orchestration and transformation tools (e.g. dbt, Airflow)
- Proficiency in Python and/or scripting for automation
- Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and monitoring concepts
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform) is a plus
