Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical GIS Technician specializing in Roads Operations and Maintenance (O&M) to join our team in Doha, Qatar. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing spatial data related to road infrastructure, supporting maintenance operations, and providing valuable insights for decision-making processes.

  • Create, update, and maintain GIS databases for road infrastructure and assets
  • Collect and process spatial data from various sources, including GPS and field surveys
  • Perform spatial analysis and generate maps, reports, and visualizations to support road O&M activities
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize road maintenance needs
  • Develop and implement GIS-based solutions for tracking and managing road maintenance projects
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity through quality control processes
  • Assist in the integration of GIS data with other systems and databases used in road O&M
  • Provide technical support and training to team members on GIS tools and applications
  • Stay updated on the latest GIS technologies and best practices in road infrastructure management


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 3 years of experience in GIS, preferably in road operations and maintenance
  • Proficiency in GIS software, such as ArcGIS or QGIS
  • Experience with CAD software and database management systems
  • Strong skills in data analysis, visualization, and cartography
  • Familiarity with GPS technology and field data collection methods
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data management
  • Knowledge of road operations and maintenance processes
  • Understanding of transportation infrastructure and asset management principles
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of Qatar's road network and infrastructure would be advantageous
