Required Technical Skills
Azure Fundamentals: 1-2 years of experience with Azure services including: - Azure Monitor and Azure Log Analytics - Basic understanding of Azure Compute resources (VMs, App Services) - Azure Networking basics (VNet, NSGs) - Azure Portal navigation and resource management
Monitoring & Observability: Hands-on experience with: - Grafana dashboard interpretation and navigation - Understanding alert conditions and thresholds - Basic Prometheus queries and metrics - Log analysis using Azure Monitor or ELK Stack - Creating and updating incident tickets
DevOps Tools: Working knowledge of: - Azure DevOps for viewing pipeline status and logs - Git basics for documentation updates - Basic PowerShell or Bash scripting for routine tasks - Remote desktop and SSH for server access
Communication & Documentation: Strong skills in: - Clear written communication for incident reports - Verbal communication for status updates and escalations - Documentation of troubleshooting steps and resolutions - Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
Required Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
- Excellent time management and ability to prioritize multiple alerts
- Calm demeanor under pressure during incident response
- Willingness to learn and ask questions when uncertain
- Team player who can work effectively with senior engineers
- Reliable and punctual, especially for on-call rotations
- Ability to work as part of a team and experience in dealing with various levels of stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: - Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) - Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) - desirable - ITIL Foundation certification - desirable
Additional Experience: - Experience with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, etc.) - Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls) - Exposure to container technologies (Docker basics) - Experience working in 24/7 support environments - Previous experience in transport or critical infrastructure industries
Specific Responsibilities for Alert Monitoring
- Monitor Grafana dashboards for IoT Azure environment alerts
- Respond to automated alerts within defined SLA timeframes
- Perform initial triage and assessment of alert severity
- Execute standard remediation procedures for common alerts
- Escalate complex issues to Senior DevOps Engineers with detailed information
- Document all alert responses and actions taken
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours alert monitoring
- Contribute to the improvement of alert definitions and runbooks
- Provide regular status updates during active incidents
- Assist in post-incident reviews and documentation
