About the Role

As a Lead Backend Engineer, you will shape a cloud-native backend built with Golang and/or Kotlin, powering high-volume transactional systems. You’ll own backend architecture, APIs, and infrastructure as code, working closely with mobile teams to deliver reliable integrations. A key focus is modernizing legacy systems into scalable microservices on GCP. The team values technical leadership, autonomy, and building resilient systems with long-term impact.

What you will do

• Design and develop scalable microservices using Golang for transactional systems and/or Kotlin for Backend-for-Frontends (BFF);
• Take ownership of infrastructure provisioning using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code);
• Migrate data and logic from a legacy PHP monolith to Cloud SQL/Spanner;
• Collaborate with mobile engineers to define API schemas and requirements;
• Ensure high performance and reliability of services deployed to Cloud Run/GKE;
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code.

Must haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field;
• 5+ years of backend software development experience;
• Strong proficiency in Go (Golang) and/or Kotlin (server-side);
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery);
• Experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools;
• Solid understanding of Microservices architecture and distributed systems;
• Experience with relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases;
• Upper-intermediate English level.

Nice to haves

• Ability to read and understand PHP;
• Experience with gRPC and Protocol Buffers;
• Experience with Event-Driven Architecture.
