Senior Network Engineer

Location: Leighton Buzzard

Salary: £55,000

Eligibility: Must be eligible for SC Clearance (Lived in the UK for the past 5 years)

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and performance-manage a team of engineers to deliver high-quality technical services, providing line management where required.
• Plan and prioritise day-to-day team activities to ensure service and delivery requirements are met.
• Design, build, configure, and support network and infrastructure solutions in line with architectural designs.
• Own and resolve complex technical incidents and problems, including root cause analysis and preventative actions.
• Identify recurring issues, investigate trends, and implement service improvements.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, and change requests.
• Provide expert technical advice and influence technical decisions across teams.
• Monitor and report on service performance, consolidating KPIs and providing insight and recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal teams and third-party suppliers to resolve issues and manage change.
• Mentor junior engineers and deputise for the Lead/Principal Engineer when required.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

Essential

• Experience designing and supporting solutions in highly secure environments.
• Strong networking expertise (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IPSEC).
• Cisco technologies including switching, routing, ASA, Firepower, ISE, ACI.
• Firewall technologies including Palo Alto and F5 BIG-IP (LTM/ASM).
• Virtualisation and virtual networking (e.g. VMware).
• Network monitoring (PRTG).
• Cloud experience (Azure and/or AWS).

Desirable

• ITIL 4 experience and knowledge of ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow).
• Experience in performance reporting and stakeholder management.
• Leadership experience, ideally within Government environments.
