Data Analyst

Swoon is currently partnering with a leading utilities client to support a hybrid Data Analyst opportunity based in Oakland, CA. This is a 4-month contract role requiring 3 days onsite per week.

This position will support data reporting, governance, and operational analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in dashboard development, SQL-based analysis, and data quality management within structured and compliance-driven environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports
• Write and optimize SQL queries (Oracle / Business Objects environment)
• Manage and validate data extracts and reporting trackers
• Support data governance, audit readiness, and documentation standards
• Perform trend analysis, root cause analysis, and KPI reporting
• Ensure data accuracy through cleansing, validation, and process improvement
• Create and improve folder structures and data logging taxonomy
• Assist with reporting automation and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence
• Strong experience with Power BI
• Experience writing SQL queries
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (complex formulas, pivot tables; VBA a plus)
• Experience working with reporting metrics and KPIs
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and clearly communicate findings
• Comfortable working in environments that require documentation and audit support
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting utility or energy operations
• Familiarity with data governance frameworks
• Experience with UNIX shell scripting, SAS, or other programming languages (nice to have)

• Pay Rate: $47/hr
• Location: Hybrid – Oakland, CA (3 days onsite required)
• Duration: 4-month contract
• Candidates must currently reside in the Bay Area
