As a Data Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in Lockton’s data transformation journey. You’ll design and implement scalable, cost-efficient data architectures that power advanced analytics and business insights. By building and optimising high-performance data pipelines with Azure Databricks and Data Lake Storage, you’ll ensure seamless data flow across the enterprise. You’ll develop robust models and warehousing solutions for a single source of truth, apply governance and security best practices, and drive automation through CI/CD and DevOps. By collaborating globally and optimising performance, you’ll help shape a future‑ready data ecosystem that empowers smarter decisions.

What will you be doing?

  • Build and support scalable and cost‑efficient data solutions that enable analytics and business insights.
  • Develop, optimise, and orchestrate high‑performance data pipelines using Azure Databricks and Azure Data Lake Storage.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of data models and data warehouse layers to support reliable reporting and analysis.
  • Apply data governance practices including catalogue management, lineage tracking, and data validation.
  • Follow and enforce data security and compliance policies across all data engineering workflows.
  • Take responsibility for developing CI/CD pipelines and applying DevOps principles to automate data engineering delivery.
  • Implement Git workflows and manage environments across dev/test/prod.
  • Collaborate with global teams to align with established architecture patterns and share best practices.
  • Monitor pipeline performance and implement observability, logging, and alerting.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation for data pipelines, models, and governance processes



You will need the following experience and qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in data engineering, including hands‑on work with Azure Databricks.
  • Experience delivering production data pipelines and contributing to scalable data solutions.
  • Strong practical skills with Azure Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, job development; exposure to workspace administration is an advantage).
  • Strong SQL and Python skills for data transformation, integration, and automation (R is a plus).
  • Good understanding of data architecture, data modelling concepts, and modern data warehousing practices.
  • Familiarity with data governance tools (Unity Catalog, Microsoft Purview) and lineage tracking.
  • Understanding of data security fundamentals, including encryption, RBAC, and secure handling of sensitive information.
  • Experience with DevOps for data engineering: CI/CD, Git workflows, and automated deployments.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, or Bicep) is a bonus.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work with complex datasets.
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Databricks certification are highly regarded.
