Network Administrator

Freelance Network Administrator | 2-year Contract | On-Site

Our client is a leading IT service provider supporting critical public sector infrastructure in Germany. They are seeking an experienced Network Administrator to support the build, operation, and optimisation of high-availability data centre network infrastructures within a highly secure and regulated environment.

Role Overview

• Support installation and rollout of data centre network infrastructures
• Configure and operate routers, switches, and firewalls in Cisco-based environments
• Design and implement VLANs, segmentation concepts, and routing structures
• Administer monitoring and logging solutions, including Splunk Enterprise
• Support and maintain high-security network solutions, including products from genua GmbH (genuagate, genuscreen, genuconnect)
• Perform patching, firmware updates, certificate and license management
• Conduct network testing (performance, failover, load) and support change and release activities
• Monitor availability, troubleshoot incidents, and contribute to ITIL-based service management
• Maintain accurate network and security documentation

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise network administration, ideally within data centre environments
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching, and firewall technologies
• Proven experience with monitoring and logging solutions, including Splunk
• Experience working in high-security or segmented network environments
• Solid understanding of network security, access controls, and certificate management
• Experience supporting high-availability and backup concepts
• Fluent German (C1) and good working English (B1+)
• Bonus: Experience with Xonitor or Cisco Meeting Server
