Lead Application Developer (Java)

Location: Amsterdam

Contract: Freelance

Duration: Until end of the year (approx.. 1,832.00 hours) + possible extension

We are looking for an experienced Lead Java Developer who is eager to take the lead and stay hands-on. You are confident in expressing your opinions and believe it is important to excel as a team. As a Lead Application Developer, you will play a crucial and leading role in the development and implementation of database systems and applications.

For our Scrum team, we are looking for a Lead Developer who not only brings strong technical expertise but is also able to inspire and motivate the team. You will work closely with the Architect and Product Owner and are comfortable addressing colleagues on behavior when needed. With your proactive mindset and driven personality, you elevate the team to a higher level and contribute to improvements, both technically and in processes.

You are able to explain complex and innovative solutions in a clear and understandable way to business stakeholders and demonstrate the value they add. In this way, you contribute to ensuring a sustainable future for the application.

Responsibilities

• Take a leading role within the Agile team.
• Develop, enhance, and maintain applications in PL/SQL and Java.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Execute database queries and develop stored procedures.
• Collaborate with developers, functional administrators, and testers to achieve project goals.
• Document developed code, technical specifications, and process descriptions.

Requirements

• Experience as a Lead Developer within an Agile software development team.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Java Application Developer or in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and query optimization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
