Staff Android Software Engineer, Android System UI

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development in Java, C++, Kotlin or equivalent programming languages and with data structures and algorithms.
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• 1 year of experience with Android application or operating systems development.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
• 3 years of experience with Android application or operating systems development.
  
  

About the jobIn this role, you will be developing the features where you can trace the code's contribution running on actual devices. You will engineer features the core features of Android UI and take ownership of improving the underlying Android Framework components that power experiences like widgets and shortcuts, which involves working within framework internals, refining APIs for robustness and performance, and considering the technical needs of developers across the ecosystem who rely on these foundations. You will also work with product, design, and research, and engage technically with numerous partner teams and developer relations to define the developer experience for applications building widgets and shortcuts.Android is Google’s mobile operating system powering more than 3 billion devices worldwide.
