About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Android Engineer to join our dynamic software development team in Toronto. In this role, you will be instrumental in driving the technical vision and delivering innovative mobile solutions that enhance our customer experience. You will lead by example, providing mentorship and technical guidance to our mobile development team, and play a key role in designing scalable, secure, and efficient Android applications.
This position requires a deep hands-on approach to development, architecture, and technical design. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new features, optimize existing applications, and ensure the highest standards of quality and performance. Our team is passionate about leveraging the latest technologies, including microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud solutions, to deliver seamless digital banking experiences across platforms.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience developing native Android applications using Java and Kotlin.
- Extensive experience in application and data architecture, design, and development.
- Proficiency with modern Android development tools and frameworks such as RxJava, Coroutines, Dagger, Espresso, JUnit, and Jenkins.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles, agile methodologies, and full software development lifecycle.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience mentoring junior and intermediate developers, providing technical guidance, and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Own the technical design, architecture, and development of multi-platform, cross-functional application systems ensuring they meet business and technical requirements.
- Lead the development lifecycle for Android applications, including planning, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with product owners, UX/UI designers, and other engineering teams to deliver innovative features and enhancements.
- Implement best practices for code quality, performance optimization, and security standards across Android applications.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices by advocating for modern tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior, intermediate, and senior mobile engineers, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical documentation to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in mobile development and recommend innovative solutions to improve our products.
