Project Manager

CGC Recruitment
Australia · Full-time · Mid-Senior

We’re partnering with a well-established fitout builder with a strong footprint in the healthcare sector to appoint an experienced Small Works Project Manager to lead and grow their healthcare delivery arm.

This is a genuine leadership position — overseeing multiple fast-paced private healthcare projects valued between $500K–$2M, while running the small works division with a team reporting directly to you.

The Opportunity

This role is built for someone who wants autonomy, accountability, and full project ownership. Reporting directly to senior management, you’ll be the primary client interface and take control of projects from pre-construction through to handover.

It’s an ideal step-up for a Senior Contracts Administrator or Project Engineer ready to own projects and lead a team, while still being supported by experienced leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end delivery of healthcare projects valued at $500K–$2M
  • Full ownership of programme, cost, quality, and safety outcomes
  • Lead and mentor a small team (CAs/PEs and site-based staff)
  • Act as key client contact across multiple healthcare stakeholders
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, contracts, and variations
  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects in live healthcare environments
  • Report directly to senior leadership on performance and pipeline
  • Drive continuous improvement across the small works division

Salary: Circa $160K -180K + depending on experience

About You

  • Background as a Senior CA, Project Engineer, or Project Manager with a head contractor
  • Degree-qualified in Construction Management or similar
  • Experience delivering fitout, refurbishment, or healthcare projects
  • Strong commercial acumen and confidence running projects independently
  • Proven ability to manage multiple jobs and lead a small team
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ambition to step into a department-level leadership role

Healthcare experience is highly regarded, though strong fitout or live-environment project delivery will also be considered.

Why This Role?

  • Clear pathway into a Project Manager / Department Lead position
  • Direct access to senior decision-makers
  • Real autonomy to run projects and shape the small works function
  • Strong pipeline of repeat healthcare clients
  • Stable, well-respected builder with long-term growth plans
