How you will make an impact?

As Senior Program Manager you will have the unique opportunity to lead a strategic product development program for our clinical diagnostics business. You will be responsible for leading all aspects of multiple projects within a program to ensure alignment with the company’s strategic goals and customer requirements. Essential role is to lead and guide R&D work and cross-functional program team effectively managing schedule, budget and reporting activities for the program. Senior Program Manager role requires strong leadership in a matrixed environment, disciplined execution, and effective communication with internal stakeholders, customers, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex engineering programs from concept through commercialization.
  • Own program budgets, forecasts, and resource plans, ensuring disciplined financial and capacity management. Drive timely decision-making to maintain schedule and cost commitments.
  • Develop and implement program strategy, objectives and plans in alignment with the product roadmap and business goals.
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams within a matrixed organization. Provide leadership and direction to project managers and multi-functional team members within the program.
  • Monitor and report on program progress, providing updates to senior leadership.
  • Manage and engage collaborators, including partners and customers. Develop strong relationships with stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and support.
  • Allocate and manage resources effectively to ensure projects have vital tools, personnel, and support.
  • Ensure adherence to Thermo Fisher Scientific development processes, design control requirements, and quality system standards.
  • Proactively manage program-level risks, technical trade-offs, and interdependencies, escalating as appropriate.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve program efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Project Management or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, cross-functional, multi-project development programs within engineering environment.
  • Outstanding leadership and team-building skills, capability to lead and empower cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in project and program management software and tools.
  • Ability to perform and lead in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project or program management certification (e.g. PMP).
  • Experience working in a global organization.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards.
