The opportunity

We're currently looking for an AOSP Senior Software Engineer. Someone with a passion for electric mobility, an interest in technology, and a desire to create the change we know is needed.

The Infotainment Software team is a part of Connected Experience group in R&D and consists of specialists with broad expertise in Android Automotive OS. Currently the team is focused on development of a high-end infotainment system for the latest model of Polestar, which is not yet on the market. We’re committed to fostering our professional development with continuous learning, mentorship, and access to advanced tools and technologies.

This position is located in Gothenburg, Sweden. We believe in a hybrid model when it comes to remote and onsite work, knowing that both in-person collaboration and individual time to focus are needed. What matters most is that people get the time, and support, to do what needs to be done. And to enjoy doing it, of course.

The Responsibilities

In this role, this candidate will be expected to develop and modify Android-based applications and services for automotive platforms. Working as a member of the Infotainment Software team, the candidate will be instrumental in working closely with our supplier to ensure smooth integration of components developed by them.

See below for a more thorough breakdown of the various tasks and areas you'll be responsible for:

  • Design and implementation of new features tailored to automotive requirements.
  • Identify and fix bugs in the applications, libraries, etc. ensuring reliability and stability.
  • Develop unit tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews to maintain high coding standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including integration team, UI/UX, and systems engineers, and external suppliers to deliver a high-performing and secure in-car experience.

Flexibility in implementing new solutions is also essential, ensuring adaptability in a dynamic environment.

In Addition, You'll Need The Following

  • Degree qualified in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
  • Experience in AOSP development and Android internals.
  • Proven experience in building or enhancing infotainment systems for automotive platforms.
  • Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, C++, and familiarity with embedded systems development using low-level programming.
  • Proficient in using development tools like Android Studio, Git, and GitHub.
  • Familiar or having experience with Vehicle Hardware Abstraction Layer (VHAL).
  • Familiar or having experience with Android Interface Definition Language (AIDL).
  • Experience in working with signals related to Flexray, SomeIP, IPCP, etc.
  • Hands-on experience in integrating Android apps and framework layer with platform; troubleshooting any miscommunication of interfaces and signals.
