Site Reliability Engineer
Location: Utrecht (2 days per week on-site)
Period: March 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026
Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract type: Freelance
As a Site Reliability Engineer (Enablement), you will work on a mission-critical IT landscape with very high availability and performance requirements. From an enablement role, you help DevOps teams deliver value faster and more reliably, without compromising on stability or security.
You play a key role in the migration of a Mission Critical Platform to the Azure Public Cloud, within an environment that must be available 24/7 and is directly visible to end users in public transportation.
Your responsibilities
- Coaching and enabling DevOps teams to independently design and implement platform solutions
- Designing and implementing observability and monitoring solutions
- Defining and implementing SLIs and SLOs and facilitating blameless post-mortems
- Continuously improving platform services to increase agility and reliability
- Actively contributing to the migration of mission-critical applications to Azure
- Collaborating closely with development teams and Service Operations in a large-scale IT landscape

- The Enablement/Migration team plays a leading role in the cloud transformation
Education & experience
- Experience in software development and/or coding & scripting (IaC)
- Knowledge of the OSI model and preferably full-stack insight
- Proven experience with Azure infrastructure, including:
- IP networking, load balancers, reverse proxies, firewalls
- AKS, APIM, IAM
- Security by design & Azure guardrails
- Experience with RabbitMQ and/or Azure Service Bus / Event Grid
- Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Terraform, Ansible, Azure DevOps, and SonarQube
Nice to have
- Azure certifications
- Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker
- IAM experience with Keycloak and/or Microsoft Entra ID
- Experience with observability tooling such as Datadog and/or Dynatrace
- Experience as a Mission-Critical Engineer (MCE)
