We are currently seeking a Senior Data Analyst with a strong credit risk background to join one of our banking clients. This role will support the Credit Risk Data & Analytics team, focused on Business Banking Credit Risk initiatives.
Typical Day in Role:
1. Work with the Business Stakeholders, Senior Manager and the Leadership team for the end-to-end design and development of scalable and reusable Power BI Reporting Solutions that support complex analytical requirements.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, clarify, assess business needs and define business requirement for data modelling and reporting solution development.
3. Integrate data from multiple structured and semi-structured sources, ensuring data accuracy, consistency and refresh reliability.
4. Develop advanced DAX measures and calculations to support complex business logic while maintaining optimal model performance.5. Ensure data availability and data quality in the semantic model and communicate issues to upstream throughout the development cycle.
6. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to Power BI semantic models, dataflows, and refresh processes, optimizing performance and reliability as needed.
7. Implement enhancements, fixes, and change requests efficiently, adapting to evolving business requirements while maintaining solution stability.
8. Create clear and concise technical documentation covering data models, DAX logic, data sources, and reporting functionality to support knowledge transfer and ongoing maintenance.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 10+ years’ overall relevant experience in data analysis
2) 5+ years’ experience advanced Power BI development expertise – with proven hands-on experience building complex Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards, with a strong focus on performance and scalability
3) 5+ years’ experience with SQL and data querying proficiency – with a strong ability to write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries against relational databases and data warehouses to support Power BI reporting needs
4) 5+ years’ data modeling and DAX skills – with a deep understanding of analytical data modeling concepts and advanced DAX, including complex measures, time intelligence, and performance optimization techniques.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Security and access control knowledge - Practical experience implementing row-level security (RLS) and working within enterprise data security and governance standards.
2) Experience from FI complex projects, ideally related to business banking credit risk (not retail credit risk)
3) Experience with PowerShell scripting
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (typically in mathematics, business administration, technology, statistics or equivalent)
Power BI certifications an asset
CFA an asset
