JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Data Functional Analyst & BI Developer plays a key role in developing data solutions such as data warehouses and data marts. This role involves regular contact with business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into data and technical requirements.

The position requires hands-on expertise with the Microsoft SQL Server BI technology stack, including Power BI and Azure Databricks.

The analyst is part of the Data Office, a central organisation providing data services across business lines, working in a scrum team alongside the Proxy Product Owner and Data Architect.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and conduct interviews with business end-users to determine functional and non-functional requirements for BI solutions.
• Translate business needs into logical and physical data models with proper documentation.
• Collaborate with the Data Architect to convert requirements into functional and technical specifications.
• Design, build, implement, and maintain BI solutions (data integration, data warehouse, data marts) in line with performance and data volume requirements.
• Test analysis solutions, perform troubleshooting, and provide maintenance with adequate technical documentation.
• Create visualizations and reports in Power BI or SSRS.
• Conduct prototype reviews, demos, and training sessions on the data model for business users.
• Collaborate with the Project Leader throughout the project lifecycle to ensure agile and pragmatic delivery.

Key Skills

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of experience in data functional analysis and BI development using the Microsoft BI stack (SSIS/SSAS).
• At least 7 years of experience in data engineering with Azure Databricks and Python.
• Ability to translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
• Strong experience with logical and physical data modeling.
• Solid knowledge of Kimball dimensional modeling for data warehouses.
• Advanced expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, SQL queries, and T-SQL.
• Strong knowledge of Python in a data engineering context.
• Understanding of DBMS, OLAP, and ETL frameworks.
• Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI and SSRS.
• Experience in Master Data Management and Data Quality Management is a plus.
• Familiarity with tools such as Enterprise Architect and Azure data analytics tools (Azure Data Factory, Databricks).
• Experience working in agile project environments is a plus.
