About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled HVAC Controls Engineer to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing submittal packages and owner’s manuals for Building Automation Systems (BAS). This role requires a strong understanding of control systems, electrical wiring, and system integration to ensure that all designs meet performance, operational, and client expectations. The HVAC Controls Engineer will work closely with sales teams, project managers, and technicians throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial design to installation and commissioning. The position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful projects in a collaborative environment, utilizing your technical expertise to deliver innovative automation solutions that enhance building efficiency and occupant comfort.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a combination of technical skills, organizational abilities, and interpersonal qualities, including:
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects efficiently
- Problem-solving mindset with keen attention to detail to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients
- Customer-focused approach to ensure client satisfaction and project success
- Ability to troubleshoot control systems and adapt to evolving project requirements
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background check
- 1+ years of experience in HVAC, electrical systems, PLCs, or building automation
- Associate degree in HVAC, Electrical, Drafting, or Engineering (or equivalent technical education)
- Experience with Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) software
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Microsoft Visio, and Adobe Illustrator
The HVAC Controls Engineer will be responsible for a variety of technical and collaborative tasks, including:
- Designing DDC control panels, wiring schematics, and system interfaces to control HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems in accordance with project specifications
- Developing sequences of operation and detailed system layouts tailored to client needs and project requirements
- Creating electrical wiring diagrams and graphical representations of user interfaces for ease of operation
- Selecting appropriate control system components and compiling comprehensive project bill of materials (BOM)
- Collaborating with project managers and control technicians to prepare accurate submittal packages and detailed owner’s manuals
- Reviewing contract plans, specifications, and budgets to ensure alignment with project goals and client expectations
- Providing ongoing documentation support to contractors and clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinating project schedules, providing regular updates, and ensuring timely completion of milestones
- Ensuring all documentation adheres to quality standards and project deadlines, facilitating smooth project execution
