Middle Java Software Engineer

The Role

You’ll be part of a team supporting our client recognized as the industry leader in consumer healthcare navigation and care coordination. Your work will contribute to developing a new case-based care management platform that simplifies care coordination, enhances clinical outcomes, and leverages condition-specific assessments for truly personalized care.

What you will do

• Design & build APIs: Create well-versioned REST endpoints and internal services with clean contracts and excellent performance.
• Own services end-to-end: From domain modeling and persistence to deployment, monitoring, on-call, and cost/perf tuning.
• Quality by default: Write unit/integration/contract tests; champion code reviews, static analysis, and secure coding.
• Performance & reliability: Profile and optimize JVM services; apply caching, pagination, back-pressure, circuit breakers, and retries.
• Security & compliance: Implement OAuth2/OIDC, secrets management; support auditability, logging, and data protection.
• Collaboration: Partner with Product, QA, and DevOps to plan increments; mentor engineers; contribute to tech roadmap and standards.
• Documentation: Produce API specs (OpenAPI/Swagger), and runbooks.
  
  

Requirements

• Experience in building production services in Java (Java 11+), with deep knowledge of concurrency, collections, and the JVM.
• Strong framework experience: Spring Boot (WebFlux/MVC), Spring Security, Spring Data; or equivalent.
• API design expertise: RESTful principles, pagination, filtering, idempotency, versioning, and OpenAPI.
• Data layer fluency: SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., Redis, MongoDB); schema design and query optimization.
• Messaging/eventing: Kafka/RabbitMQ (producers/consumers, exactly-once/at-least-once semantics).
• CI/CD and cloud: Building pipelines (GitHub Actions/GitLab/Azure DevOps), deploying to AWS/Azure/GCP (containers or serverless).
• Observability: Metrics, logs, traces (Prometheus/Grafana/ELK/OpenTelemetry), SLOs and alerting.
• Testing: JUnit 5, Testcontainers, WireMock/MockServer, contract testing (e.g., Pact).
• Security fundamentals: OAuth2/OIDC, JWT, TLS, OWASP Top 10, secrets/IAM basics.
