DevOps Engineer

Job Summary

Seeking a skilled DevOps Consultant to design, implement, and maintain robust end‑to‑end CI/CD pipelines. The role requires hands‑on expertise with Jenkins, Nexus, Docker, GitLab, and Groovy scripting, plus familiarity with build tools such as Maven, Ant, NPM, and integration with Jira and GitLab. Experience with Azure Cloud DevOps is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain full CI/CD pipelines to automate code integration, testing, deployment, and release processes.
• Implement and manage CI/CD workflows primarily using Jenkins, including pipeline-as-code practices via Jenkinsfiles. Jenkins pipelines enable modeling delivery processes in code and support reliable, repeatable builds and deployments.
• Manage artifact repositories and registries using Nexus, ensuring clean versioning and efficient access to build artifacts.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize Groovy scripts for Jenkins pipelines and related automation tasks.
• Ensure smooth integration between Jira, GitLab, and CI/CD tools to enable traceability, automated workflows, and issue-to-deployment linkage.
• Manage build and dependency management using tools such as Maven, Ant, PIP, and NPM for various technology stacks.
• Collaborate closely with development teams to streamline deployment and release cycles and ensure CI/CD best practices are followed.
• Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot issues, and proactively improve system performance and reliability.
• Implement and advocate DevOps best practices, striving for comprehensive automation and minimal manual intervention.
• Where relevant, contribute to or support Azure DevOps services for build, deploy, or integration tasks, leveraging Microsoft’s integrated developer tools and services.

Required Skills

• Strong problem-solving and clear communication skills.
• Deep understanding of CI/CD concepts, pipeline orchestration, and DevOps methodologies.
• Proven experience with:
• Jenkins for CI/CD automation.
• Nexus or similar artifact repository management.
• Docker for containerization and deployment workflows.
• GitLab for source control and CI/CD integration.
• Proficiency in Groovy scripting; familiarity with other scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
• Hands‑on with build tools: Maven, Ant, NPM, and optionally PIP or similar for other environments.
• Experience integrating tooling with Jira and GitLab to support traceability and workflow automation.

Additional / Preferred Skills

• Experience with Azure DevOps services or other cloud DevOps platforms, including cloud deployment strategies.
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code, container orchestration beyond Docker, or automated testing frameworks.
• Familiarity with security practices in CI/CD, artifact hardening, and role‑based access controls.
• Ability to mentor or guide junior teammates on pipeline best practices and tooling.

Qualifications & Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 5–8 years of professional experience in DevOps, build/release engineering, or similar roles.
• Track record of successfully delivering automated pipelines in production or staging environments.
• Comfortable working in fast‑paced settings and collaborating across multi‑disciplinary teams.

Performance Expectations

• Deliver at least one fully automated CI/CD pipeline for a production‑grade application within the first few weeks, with documented steps and rollback strategy.
• Demonstrate measurable pipeline reliability improvements, such as reduced build failures, faster deployment times, or decreased manual intervention.
• Maintain clear documentation of pipeline configurations, scripts, and integration points.
• Provide recommendations for future improvements and potential automation expansions, especially in cloud or containerized environments.
