Senior/Lead Python Engineer

N-iX is looking for skilled Senior/Lead Python Engineer to join our team! Our customer is a is a fintech company that provides flexible buy-now-pay-later solutions, enabling consumers to split purchases into transparent, interest-free or interest-based payments. Customer's Platform team is responsible for managing critical services that are essential to the success and sustainability of the organisation. In simple terms, the team handles transactional communication send-outs to customers via email, SMS, and push notifications. These services demand attention to detail, proactive maintenance, and swift response times to ensure seamless operations. The recent high-priority initiatives include re-architecture/platform modernisation, high availability and internationalisation efforts; these are vital for our organisation's growth and competitiveness in the market. These initiatives require dedicated expertise and resources to execute efficiently and effectively.

Requirements:

• 5+ years designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python.
• Proven track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Technical Planning and Code Quality.
• Experience defining a technical plan for significant feature or system component delivery with an elegant, simple, and extensible design.
• Writes high-quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
• Proficiency at making significant changes in a large code base and has developed tools and practices to do so safely.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to support effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Kotlin experience is a nice-to-have.
  
  

Responsibilities:

• Provide the design and development of scalable, highly available backend systems using Python.
• Own technical planning and architecture for major features and system components, ensuring simple, extensible, and long-term solutions.
• Drive best practices for code quality, maintainability, and safe evolution of large codebases.
• Make and oversee significant changes in complex systems, ensuring reliability through testing, reviews, and deployment discipline.
• Contribute to and guide the development of distributed systems on AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentoring, and hands-on implementation.
• Collaborate effectively with a global engineering team through clear written and verbal communication.
