DevOps Engineer

Overview
We are seeking a AWS Cloud DevOps Engineer to lead the modernisation of legacy systems and drive the adoption of scalable, secure, cloud native solutions. This role will play a key part in re-platforming applications to AWS, implementing serverless architectures, and embedding DevOps best practices across the engineering function.
You will work closely with engineering, product, security and infrastructure teams to deliver resilient, automated and cost effective cloud solutions within an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Architecture and Modernisation
- Lead the re-platforming of legacy PHP applications to a fully serverless architecture on AWS
- Design and implement scalable solutions leveraging AWS services including EKS, Lambda, Aurora, DynamoDB, EC2, S3 and API Gateway
- Ensure seamless migration, integration and optimisation of cloud infrastructure
- Drive cost optimisation and performance improvements across cloud environments
DevOps and CI/CD
- Design, build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Optimise deployment processes to improve reliability, performance and reduce operational toil
- Embed DevOps best practices to enable frequent, high quality releases
Infrastructure as Code
- Deliver Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform
- Enable rapid provisioning, consistent configuration and scalable infrastructure management
- Continuously review and improve infrastructure design for efficiency and security
Security and Quality Engineering
- Conduct security assessments using SAST tools such as SonarCloud and Gitleaks
- Integrate security and code quality checks into CI/CD pipelines to identify and resolve issues early
- Improve system stability and reduce error rates through proactive monitoring and automated validation
- Carry out comprehensive testing across development and test environments, including automated testing strategies
Agile Delivery and Collaboration
- Operate effectively within Agile and Scrum teams, actively contributing to stand ups, retrospectives, sprint reviews and playbacks
- Work closely with cross functional stakeholders both inside and outside the engineering team
- Handle ambiguity and evolving requirements with confidence and adaptability
Knowledge Sharing
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the team
- Foster a collaborative, positive and high performing engineering culture
Skills and Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong experience designing and operating AWS cloud environments
- Proven expertise with serverless architectures and container orchestration
- Hands on experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
- Strong understanding of security best practices and SAST tooling
- Experience with automated testing and modern software delivery practices
