About the Company

Our client is undergoing a major transformation of its ERP product ecosystem, integrating a powerful new AI-driven module set to launch soon. With significant investment in automation, containerisation, and private cloud infrastructure, the business is reshaping how its platforms are built, deployed, and scaled.

Operating its own private cloud across 20+ racks of internally managed infrastructure (Dell, Cisco, Pure Storage), the company places strong emphasis on data governance, security, and customer trust. As part of its forward-looking strategy, there are plans for global expansion, including potential partner-hosted bare-metal deployments.

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-growth DevOps function at a pivotal stage of transformation.

The Role

As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in modernising and scaling a complex ERP platform tightly integrated with AI capabilities. You’ll help drive the shift from legacy virtualisation towards lightweight, cost-effective container and hypervisor solutions, while accelerating deployment times from weeks to minutes through automation and CI/CD maturity.

You will work within a rapidly expanding DevOps team (growing from 1 to 9 engineers, with further growth underway) that supports ERP, development, BI, and internal systems across the organisation. This is a hands-on technical role with leadership responsibility — ideal for someone who thrives in large-scale private cloud environments and enjoys building automation-first infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, build, and optimisation of containerised infrastructure using Kubernetes
  • Drive automation initiatives to dramatically reduce deployment timelines and manual intervention
  • Support the ongoing transformation of the ERP product stack and AI module integration
  • Manage and optimise private cloud infrastructure across 20+ racks of bare-metal hardware
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines across GitLab, GitHub, and Bitbucket
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Puppet and/or Ansible
  • Write and maintain automation scripts (Python, Bash) to streamline operations and provisioning
  • Deploy and manage complex application environments including:
  • ERP systems
  • Reverse proxies
  • SFTP services
  • Analytics and BI tools
  • Forms and supporting integrations
  • Contribute to the reduction of VMware dependency and assist in evaluating alternative hypervisor/container solutions
  • Ensure high levels of system reliability, performance, governance, and security
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the DevOps team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with development, BI, and infrastructure teams

Technical Environment

  • Containerisation & Orchestration: Kubernetes (Rancher highly regarded)
  • CI/CD & Source Control: GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket
  • Configuration Management: Puppet and/or Ansible
  • Scripting & Automation: Python, Bash
  • Infrastructure:
  • Private cloud
  • Dell, Cisco, Pure Storage
  • Bare-metal management (20+ racks)
  • Linux-based systems
  • Virtualisation: Transitioning away from VMware

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments
  • Proven experience operating and optimising Linux-based private cloud infrastructure
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD principles and toolchains (GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket)
  • Solid experience with configuration management tools (Puppet and/or Ansible)
  • Advanced scripting capability in Python and Bash
  • Experience deploying and managing complex enterprise environments (ERP stacks, reverse proxies, SFTP, analytics platforms)
  • Experience managing bare-metal infrastructure
  • Strong troubleshooting and systems thinking capability
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (mentoring, leading initiatives, or owning platform domains)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Rancher
  • Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure or AI-integrated platforms
  • Experience supporting global infrastructure expansion
  • Knowledge of alternative hypervisors or container-native virtualisation solutions
  • Experience working in highly regulated or governance-driven environments
