Junior Network Engineer

This is a hands-on, field-based role for someone who wants to build real networking experience by installing and deploying networks on-site. You’ll work across multi-site environments, trade shows, and temporary network builds, supporting live client infrastructure rather than maintaining a single campus network. If you prefer being in the field, working with cabling, hardware, and live networks, this role offers a strong pathway into network engineering.

Responsibilities

• Install and deploy wired and wireless networks on-site for events and client locations
• Pull, terminate, and test Cat5/Cat6 cabling and assist with fiber work
• Install and configure routers, switches, access points, and PTP / PTMP links
• Assist with VLAN configuration and basic network setup
• Troubleshoot connectivity, hardware, and performance issues in live environments
• Support temporary and multi-site network deployments
• Provide hands-on, customer-facing technical support during installs and events
• Assist with setup, teardown, and equipment logistics

Required Skills

• Prior experience as a field technician with an ISP, systems integrator, or VAR
• Hands-on experience installing network infrastructure on-site
• Comfortable pulling cable, terminating, mounting equipment, and working in the field
• Familiarity with routers, switches, wireless access points, and basic VLANs
• Interest in networking and infrastructure rather than systems administration
• Willingness to work flexible hours during installs and events
