Data Analyst

My client is actively looking for a Senior Data Analyst for a daily rate contract based in Dublin City Centre

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role.

As a Senior Data Analyst within the Data Strategy Team, you will shape and deliver high quality data solutions that drive data-led decision making. Reporting to a Data Strategy Manager, you will work closely with stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into robust data products and clear, actionable visualisations. You will take ownership of projects from scoping through to delivery, operating with a high degree of autonomy while championing best practice in data preparation, governance and security. Working in a modern Azure-based environment, you will use advanced SQL, Snowflake, Power BI and ETL tooling to build and optimise scalable data pipelines, improve database performance and strengthen the organisation’s overall data infrastructure.

Role Accountabilities

Data Visualisation and Analysis

• Engage with stakeholders to gather feedback, develop / improve dashboards based on evolving needs, and clearly communicate insights to encourage data-driven decision-making across teams
• Optimise Power BI and Tableau visualisations while supporting team members in effective usage.
• Present data in a structured, intuitive format that highlights trends and enhances understanding.

Collaboration with Stakeholders

• Understand business problems and work with partners to define the best solution and define requirements.
• Advise stakeholders and data managers on direction of infrastructure projects and be a strong advocate for the Data team.
• Provide peer review and technical oversight on complex projects delivered by the team

Strategy and Project Work

• Design, build and deliver high quality data solutions.
• Scoping the project to identify the best way to proceed.
• Use workflow tools such as JIRA and set an example for other team members in this regard.
• Take ownership of projects and drive the agenda, going beyond just being part of it

Data Collection and Preparation

• Identify data sources and any gaps that exist
• Advise on limitations of data and how to resolve
• Validate work of others on the team and advise on coding and standardising best practice

Data Governance and Security

• Correctly implement company data classification settings and encourage others to do the same.
• Complete ROPA and engage in completion of DPIAs where required.
• Be proactive in ensuring other teams and others in our team are rigorous in implementing data product security.

Data Engineering and Tooling

• Optimise queries and monitor database performance to enhance efficiency and prevent issues.
• Oversee data migration processes while ensuring data consistency, accuracy, and integrity.
• Leverage advanced SQL, Power BI, and programming languages to improve data capabilities, and operate ETL tools effectively.
• Deploy, manage, and optimise cloud-based data solutions, particularly in Azure, while staying updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices.

The ideal candidate will have :

• An IT, Data Science, Actuarial or Mathematical based 3rd level degree, or relevant business or technical experience
• Experience in analytical and programming tools such as Power BI, Excel, SQL, Tableau, Python
• Hands on experience designing and querying Snowflake data models
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of AI and machine learning and experience in using machine learning algorithms
• Good communication skills, with the ability to tell the story behind data to our stakeholders and present on this effectively
• Capability to work on their own initiative in a demanding environment
• An ability to plan and organise their work, communicate progress and meet project deadlines
• Experience in data modelling and data analytics as part of a project
• Fundamental skills and knowledge in database structures and concepts
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
