Back End Developer (Laravel)

Location: Darlington (Hybrid working available)

Hours: 38 hours per week | Core hours 10:00–16:00

We are working with a well-established digital and API integration specialist based in Darlington, supporting national and international clients on complex, enterprise-level projects.

The Role

As a Back End Developer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable back-end systems, primarily using PHP and Laravel. You’ll work closely with other developers to deliver high-quality solutions, optimise performance, and support API-driven integrations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining back-end applications using Laravel
• Building reusable, scalable, and efficient code
• Optimising applications for performance and reliability
• Consuming and integrating with APIs
• Working collaboratively within a development team
• Supporting the interaction between front-end and back-end systems
• Contributing to system architecture and technical decisions

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience as a Back End Developer
• Proven experience with PHP, OOP, and Laravel
• Experience working with MySQL
• Familiarity with Git and version control
• Command line experience
• Experience consuming APIs
• Knowledge of CSS frameworks
• Experience with jQuery

Desirable Skills

• Awareness or experience with Vue, React, or Tailwind
• Understanding of system architecture
• Interest in full-stack collaboration
