The Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) Systems Engineer develops the design and implementation of systems that integrate AMR hardware and associated software. The role involves working closely with colleagues across the globe to implement optimal, customer-centric solutions. Customer focus and problem solving are to be your strongest areas. Tasks And Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage the design and integration of AMR equipment within material handling systems.
- Configure AMR fleet management software and lead hardware and software commissioning at customer sites.
- Define mid- and high-level AMR system behaviors to ensure optimal system performance.
- Drive equipment build and acceptance testing activities, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Establish, document, and maintain baseline system performance and capabilities.
- Act as a primary technical point of contact for customers during on-site implementation.
- Support customer transition to live operations and contribute to on-site user training programs.
- Collaborate with internal teams and Customer Service to support issue resolution.
- 0–4 years of experience in AMR or mobile automation integration.
- Strong interest in high-tech automation solutions within industrial environments.
- Solid understanding of automated handling systems, electronics, equipment functionality, and maintenance.
- Hands-on experience installing and commissioning AMR, AGV, or mobile automation systems.
- Ability to design and troubleshoot control, communication, safety, and power systems.
- PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, team-oriented mindset, and structured working approach.
- Perform risk assessments in compliance with ANSI/RIA and ISO robotic safety standards.
- Coordinate manufacturing, installation, testing, documentation, and compliance activities.
- Supervise contractors and partners during installation and commissioning.
- Inspect completed installations to ensure safety, design, and operational compliance.
- Networking experience with Ethernet-based industrial protocols; wireless experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with Java and Chinese language skills are considered assets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Robotics, or Mechatronic Engineering.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD; E-Plan is a plus).
- Ability to work under pressure, manage schedules independently, and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to follow organizational software standards.
- Availability to travel globally up to 25%
