As backend developer, you take ownership for a core domain of our next generation product platform to address our core challenge: operational scalability.

We are operating in a highly dysfunctional market where providers regularly take advantage of their customers. Providers that bet on you being too lazy to pay attention to what they charge you for their subscription contracts. Think of your Internet broadband contract. Or your electricity contract. If you are like most people, you don’t want to deal with them. The result: As a loyal customer you typically get charged the highest prices.

Now imagine...

a smart assistant that monitors all of your subscription contracts, continuously checking for better offers in the market. An AI-based assistant that automatically orchestrates the right actions on your behalf when a cancel deadline is about to expire or you are receiving a price increase notification by your provider. An honest assistant that behaves like a good friend does, recommending what’s best for you even if that means giving up on income for us as a company. Why? Because we are guided by a single overarching KPI: How many of our users choose to use our service their entire life?

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

You are responsible for building the next generation of our technology platform, which we are rebuilding from the ground up with AI at the core.

1. Backend Foundation: You design the backend foundation of our next generation platform. You are guiding us on how to further increase the automation level of our product so that we are able to handle the high demand and rapid growth of our service.
2. Data Model Design: You shape a provider and market agnostic data model that enables us to easily extend our service to more market categories and countries.
3. Framework Definition: You build a configuration-driven framework with the right level of abstraction in order to empower business experts to set up and manage complex workflows and business rules.
4. AI Development: You draw upon the latest LLM models and agentic frameworks, leveraging artificial intelligence to solve our core challenges. You stay at the forefront of AI developments and anticipate where AI solutions are heading, experimenting with novel approaches in fast & pragmatic iterations.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

You have a deep understanding what makes or breaks a great technology platform and possess the following experience:

• Backend Engineering: Extensive experience in building complex backend applications, ideally with experience in Python or Ruby on Rails
• Automation: Proven track record in designing systems with high levels of automation and scalability
• Data Modeling: Experience in designing highly abstracted data models that can handle diverse data and events
• Data Processing: Experience in building highly-automated and extensible pipelines for extracting, aggregating, validating, and normalising unstructured data
• ML & AI: Experience in leveraging machine learning and AI solutions to tackle real-world challenges in data extraction, classification and normalisation

• Digital workspace invitation: If we feel you could be match, we’ll invite you to a digital workspace to dive deeper into the role together

• Office visit: Then we’ll arrange a deep dive session together with our co-founder at our Haus-der-Fairänderung at Maybachufer in Berlin
• Team meeting: As the final step, we’ll arrange a meeting with more colleagues from our team given that our team culture matters a lot to us
