As a Lead Data Engineer at Landal you are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and high-quality data pipelines and infrastructure. This role ensures that data flows efficiently from source systems into analytical and operational layers, enabling the company’s data-driven initiatives, advanced analytics, and AI use cases. It bridges data architecture, engineering, and analytics to make trusted data consistently available across the organization.

As a Lead Data Engineer your tasks and responsibilities includes:
- Lead the design and implementation of data pipelines from ingestion to consumption using Databricks, DBT, and surrounding tooling/stack;
- Define and maintain data architecture and modelling standards (e.g., Kimball, Data Vault);
- Ensure pipeline reliability, performance, and cost efficiency across environments (Test, Acceptance, Production);
- Collaborate with platform engineers on CI/CD automation, version control, and environment promotion.Implement data quality and monitoring frameworks (DBT tests, Great Expectations, Delta expectations);
- Work with governance teams to ensure lineage, metadata, and GDPR compliance through Unity Catalog and other tools;
- Partner with Analytics Engineers, AI teams, and business stakeholders to make high-quality data available for analytics and products;
- Mentor data engineers and drive adoption of best practices in coding, testing, and documentation;
- Contribute to the Data Platform roadmap and support technical evaluations of new tools and frameworks.
To Be Succesful In This Positon You Have
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 1 in a senior or lead role;
- Deep hands-on experience with Databricks (Python/PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog) and DBT;
- Strong proficiency in SQL, data warehousing concepts, and performance tuning;
- Experience with Azure InfraAzure Data Factory, ADLS, Synapse, or Fabric preferred;
- Familiarity with Power BI or similar BI tools as a consumer layer. Familiar with the concept of Data Products and iterative development;
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions;
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, especially across Data, IT, and Business teams.

- An annual contract with a trial period of one month, whereby we would of course ultimately be happy to employ you permanently;
- A salary between € 4,808 and € 6,869 gross per month on a full-time basis*;

- Working from home allowance of €2,45 per home working day;

- Participation in the Recreation pension fund. The standard retirement date in this scheme is 67 years. The premium for this old-age pension is 21.8% of the pension basis, with Landal and you each paying half;

- A full-time employment contract at Landal has a 38-hour working week, which is equivalent to a 5-day working week. If you have a part-time employment contract, your salary and vacation days are calculated pro rata.
