Ericsson’s Mobile Financial Services (MFS) business provides the software and services around the product Ericsson Wallet Platform (EWP). EWP is a fintech platform that enables telecom operators and financial service providers to offer fast, secure and easy-to-use mobile financial services to their customers. The platform enables customers, both banked and unbanked, to transfer, pay, save, grow, receive, and borrow money.
EWP has enabled financial services for more than a decade and is a market leader among digital wallet platforms, globally. It is now available in 24 countries, supports over 450 million registered mobile wallets and processes more than 36 billion transactions worth over USD 500 billion every year. Today, every fifth mobile money transaction globally is processed through EWP. In line with this, Ericsson has increased investments in R&D and grown its MFS organization in recent years. The business is well-positioned to pursue continued growth, including expansion into new geographical markets.
We are now looking for a visionary and operationally capable leader to drive the MFS division to achieve further profitable growth, reaching 1.5bn SEK in revenue by 2028. The role entails full profit & loss accountability, strategic expansion, and operational excellence for the EWP and associated services. Reporting directly to Ericsson’s Group COO Chris Houghton, the Head of MFS will play a pivotal role in reshaping the fintech landscape globally.

EXPERIENCE:
General Management Expertise – proven executive general management experience encompassing full P&L responsibility, preferably in the fintech ecosystem, telecoms or adjacent industries.
Demonstrated ability to grow the business - with a strong focus on customer success.
Leading Transformation - expertise navigating matrix organizations and global operations to successfully deliver required organisational change and evolution.
Commercial Acumen - demonstrated success in customer engagements and complex techno-commercial negotiations, with a track record for driving profitability, customer acquisition and innovation.

Reporting directly to Ericsson’s Group COO Chris Houghton, the Head of MFS will play a pivotal role in reshaping the fintech landscape globally.
What you will do:
Strategic Leadership & General Management
- Assume full end to end ownership and responsibility for MFS across development, support, product management, operational functions, sales and delivery.
- Drive & own the targeted revenue growth of MFS, positioning EWP as a superior option for customers and partners.
- Develop strategies to expand into new fintech services such as lending, insurance, credit scoring and fraud management.
- Leverage Ericsson’s global sales channels and customer relationships to expand the MFS market presence within Africa and expand into new markets, e.g. Europe, and North America.
- Identify and execute strategic partnerships to accelerate growth in new fintech verticals.
- Deliver and flawlessly execute on promised deliverables to existing valued customers.
- Drive operational transformation within MFS and across Customer Units (Ericsson’s sales organizations) to ensure standardization, efficiency, and scalability in delivery.
- Build managed service offers and SaaS solutions to support growing fintech adoption.
- Build and lead a high-performing, empowered team of over 440 people, delegating effectively as needed, and creating a culture of accountability, innovation and collaboration.
- Foster unwavering commitment to compliance, integrity and ethics within MFS, aligned with the “Ericsson on the Move” programme and company values.
- Ensure governance and alignment with Ericsson’s standards, including CEO responsibilities for the Swedish legal entity.
- Build close cross functional partnerships across the broader Ericsson Group, ensuring smooth collaboration and cooperation across teams and functions.
- Serve as the face of MFS to partners, investors, and the broader external fintech community.
- Demonstrate thought leadership in financial services to external stakeholders, e.g. media and analysts.
