About The Role

Gate 40 is recruiting a band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Band 6, who has the ability to positively lead a team. Applicants will need to demonstrate flexibility, reliability and a commitment to delivering excellent standards of care.

Gate 40 is a busy, vibrant day unit and short stay ward, that is enthusiastic and committed to delivering excellent standards of compassionate care for patients, and also ensuring all members of staff are encouraged and supported to be the best that they can be.

We predominantly care for elective day and short stay surgery and planned trauma surgery. We are looking for an enthusiastic grounded and innovative professional who ideally has experience in this type of environment.

Main duties

As a Band 6 sister /charge nurse you will promote high quality patient care, display professionalism at all times, and uphold the Trusts values and behaviours. You will also be able to demonstrate that you are an influential role model in promoting and maintaining high standards and positive changes on the ward, and by supporting and encouraging a positive culture and work environment.

The band 6 role also involves supporting the ward manager by assisting with appraisals, audits and participating in sickness and absence management.

Qualifications

Essential person specification requirements

  • Registered Nurse
  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of recent and ongoing professional development
  • Evidence of competency in teaching and assessing or working towards
  • Supporting Learning in Practice

Experience

  • Post registered experience
  • Demonstrate experience of leadership in current role.
  • Experience working within short stay/day surgery

Knowledge and Awareness

  • Up to date knowledge of current nursing issues and practice
  • Demonstrate innovation in practice
  • Incorporate high quality patient centred care
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal and professional accountability
  • Awareness of professional responsibilities to self and others
  • Awareness of current national changes in nursing / NHS
