At the Institute of History of Art, Building Archaeology and Restoration, in the Research Unit of History of Architecure and Building Archaeology TU Wien is offering a position as student employee (all genders) in research/administration for 10 hours/week. Expected start: expected immediately. This position is limited to expected 4 years, but no longer than the completion of a master's or diploma degree.

Tasks

  • Interface between research department and TU IT Services
  • Supportive administration and maintenance of Windows and Mac workstations (e.g., activating licenses, setting up new devices, functional support)
  • Assisting with administration of the web server (e.g., website Wordpress backend, Rasperry Pi development server)
  • Assisting with support and backup of the QNAP NAS server (e.g., rack at TU, backup as local HDDs at the institute)
  • Supporting network administration within the institute
  • Involvement in research-related development is possible, e.g., Unity/Vuforia AR/Android, browser-based data viewers; preferably adaptation of open source projects (e.g., pointcloud, “potree”; maps; high-resolution raster graphics “zoomify”)

Your Profile

  • Enrollment in a relevant degree program, e.g., in computer science, media informatics, or software engineering; no completed master's or diploma degree in the field
  • Subject-specific knowledge
  • Knowledge of TU-internal processes in the IT area is an advantage (software activation, network troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Unity, HTML, Android, and possibly Xcode to support research-based development is an advantage
