Machine Learning Engineer

Oliver James is currently partnering with a leading banking institution in Brussels to recruit a Machine Learning Engineer.

Our client is a well-established financial services organisation undergoing a significant data and AI transformation programme. As part of this strategic investment, they are strengthening their analytic and machine learning capabilities in customer analytic and operational optimisation.

Role Overview

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and deploying scalable machine learning solutions within a regulated banking environment. You will work closely with data scientists, data engineers, IT teams and business stakeholders to ensure that models are robust, production-ready and aligned with governance and security standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain end-to-end machine learning pipelines

• Industrialise models from proof of concept to production environments

• Deploy, monitor and optimise model performance in collaboration with IT and data teams

• Contribute to the evolution of the data and AI architecture

• Ensure compliance with internal governance policies and regulatory requirements

Profile

• Bachelor/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Machine Learning Engineering or similar role

• Strong proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch

• Mandatory experience with at least one major cloud platform (GCP, AWS or Azure), including deployment and management of machine learning solutions in a cloud environment.

• Solid understanding of MLOps principles and CI/CD practices

• Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed systems

• Good knowledge of SQL and data engineering concepts

• Professional fluency in English

Nice to Have

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly Vertex AI, BigQuery or Cloud Run

• Previous experience within the banking or financial services sector
