You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely — even if they’re daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the #VTeamLife.
What You’ll Be Doing...
You will be working to design, deploy, and optimise Generative AI solutions that solve real-world problems for our customers and internal teams. You will move beyond traditional modelling to build agentic workflows and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems, applying the latest advancements in Foundation Models to create intuitive, AI-native product experiences.
- Building and refining LLM-powered features and autonomous agents to enhance product capabilities and business logic.
- Designing and implementing RAG pipelines to connect our proprietary data with large language models for high-accuracy outputs.
- Exploring the frontier of AI research (e.g., new model releases, context window techniques, and prompting strategies) to rapidly prototype and integrate commercial and open-source models.
- Collaborating with Product Managers and UX Designers to define how AI can best serve user needs and improve interaction patterns.
- Developing and maintaining production-grade infrastructure for AI orchestration, including prompt management and model evaluation frameworks.
- Optimising AI performance through Prompt Engineering, context management, and strategic use of embeddings.
- Contributing to a culture of rapid experimentation and "AI-first" thinking across the engineering organisation.
- Rapid "Vibe Coding" & Prototyping: Use tools like Lovable, Bolt.new, and Claude Code to go from idea to deployed full-stack MVP in days, not weeks.
- AI Evangelism & Enablement: Act as the "AI Copilot" for the R&D team. Run internal workshops, create "cursor rules" files for the team, and teach senior engineers how to leverage AI tools to 10x their speed.
You are a builder at heart with a "hacker" mindset. You are eager to bridge the gap between raw model capabilities and polished user products. You are proactive, iterate quickly, and enjoy the challenge of "taming" non-deterministic AI outputs.
You’ll Need To Have
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Solid understanding of the LLM stack, including experience with orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Strands Agents, CrewAI).
- Knowledge of modern AI concepts: Prompt Engineering, few-shot learning, and the difference between fine-tuning and RAG.
- Experience with standard software development tools (Git, Docker) and CI/CD processes.
- Evangelist Energy: You are genuinely excited about AI. You follow the latest releases, read the relevant papers, and can explain why "reasoning models" matter to a non-technical stakeholder.
- Fearless "Hacker" Mindset: You aren't afraid of code you didn't write. You are comfortable generating 80% of your code with AI and crafting the remaining 20% with high precision.
- Contributions to open-source AI projects or a portfolio of "weekend" prototypes built with an AI-native toolchain (e.g. Lovable, Replit, Cursor, Claude Code, Gitlab Copilot).
- Exposure to cloud-based AI services (e.g., AWS Bedrock, Azure AI Studio, or GCP Vertex AI)
- Experience with Vector Databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, or Chroma) and semantic search concepts.
- Experience with AI evaluation and observability tools (e.g., LangSmith, LangFuse).
- Experience deploying models locally using tools like Ollama or vLLM.
- Knowledge of "Agentic" design patterns (e.g., ReAct, Tool-use/Function calling).
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.
