Cyber Security Engineer

As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will play a key role in developing secure cyber designs for complex naval platforms and associated training environments. Salary up to €5000.

Job Description

As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring that cybersecurity requirements are embedded from concept to delivery.

You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external partners to safeguard critical systems in accordance with stringent defence standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering deliverables including specifications, functional descriptions, schematics, and security concepts
  • Contribute to IT, OT, emission, and physical security discussions with subject matter experts
  • Support test and verification planning for cybersecurity measures
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with required cybersecurity standards
  • Assess technical performance of vendors and subcontractors
  • Perform technical analysis of supplier offers in collaboration with Procurement
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable class and customer requirements
  • Coordinate timely technical contributions from external partners
  • Support the ongoing development of the Engineering department


What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Automation, IT Systems, Information Security Management, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design or maintenance of complex IT or OT systems (maritime, offshore, or industrial environments preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of networking architectures, layers, and protocols
  • Experience with hardware infrastructure, system hardening, encryption, and radiation safety
  • Familiar with cybersecurity standards such as ISO 27001 and IEC 62443
  • Willingness to work in accordance with German security standards
  • Fluent in German and English (written and verbal)
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport required due to the defence-related nature of the projects
