For our client in the Basel region, we are currently looking for a Data Scientist for a 12-month assignment. An extension is rather unlikely.

Data Scientist
As a Data Scientist, you will play a key hands-on role in maintaining and further developing an established data integration and AI environment. Acting as an interface between data engineering, scientific research, and machine learning, you will ensure stable data workflows while supporting ongoing model development and optimization. In this position, you will take ownership of complex ETL pipelines, perform advanced data and image analyses, and guarantee seamless project continuation within a small, highly skilled team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting existing data integration and ETL pipelines to ensure data quality and availability
- Supporting the training, validation, and optimization of AI and machine learning models in close collaboration with the R&D team
- Performing data analysis to generate actionable insights and clearly structured reports
- Addressing technical challenges related to data access, software limitations, and model performance
- Ensuring project continuity and adherence to timelines and deliverables during the contract period
- Maintaining clear and structured documentation of workflows, processes, and system adaptations in line with FAIR data principles
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in a Data Science or Data Analytics role
- Strong expertise in Python and scientific libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn
- Solid experience with SQL and relational databases
- Practical experience with ETL processes and data pipeline management
- Foundational understanding of machine learning models and optimization techniques
- Experience in image analysis methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a technical team
- Familiarity with FAIR data principles
