About the Role

We are building the next-generation technology platforms that power the Lenskart Group — spanning multiple brands (Lenskart, Owndays, Meller, Aqualens) and operating across geographies including India, KSA, UAE, Singapore, Japan, and beyond.

As a Backend Developer, you’ll play a key role in shaping the core systems that drive this global vision — from intelligent inventory and omnichannel commerce to personalized experiences powered by AI and data. You’ll design and build high-performance backend services that scale seamlessly across markets and products, delivering delightful and frictionless eyewear experiences to millions of customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own microservice-based backend applications using Java Spring Boot.
• Build APIs and platforms that serve multiple brands and geographies, ensuring scalability and flexibility for global rollout.
• Implement event-driven architectures for systems like order management, fulfillment, and inventory synchronization.
• Integrate AI-driven capabilities such as personalized recommendations, intelligent product search, and predictive operations.
• Collaborate closely with product, AI/ML, DevOps, and frontend teams to build systems that bridge online and offline experiences.
• Design efficient database schemas (MySQL, MongoDB), optimize data flows, and maintain consistency across distributed systems.
• Monitor, optimize, and scale backend services for performance, reliability, and global availability.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and innovation sprints to drive continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2–5 years of backend development experience using Java Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and REST API design.
• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with event-driven systems and message brokers (Kafka or similar).
• Familiarity with caching strategies (Redis, Memcached) and scalable system design.
• Solid foundation in object-oriented programming, design patterns, and clean code principles.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and deployments on AWS or GCP.

Nice to Have

• Experience building multi-brand or multi-tenant platforms.
• Exposure to AI/ML integrations in production environments.
• Background in e-commerce, retail tech, or global-scale applications.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and recommendation engines.
