Senior Engineering - Wealth Platform

Location: Lausanne, CH

Reports to: CTO

Work model: Hybrid (3 days office)

Team scope: 6 direct / 24 indirect

About The Role

We're hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to own engineering delivery for our Wealth Platform (WP). This is our core product that powers investment advisory workflows for some of the world's largest banks, including JPMorgan. This is not a maintenance role. You'll take ownership of multiple squads delivering mission-critical software in a regulated financial services environment, with real delivery pressure from enterprise clients. You'll lead ~24 engineers across several teams, driving quality, velocity, and retention during a period of deliberate transformation, including the adoption of AI-augmented engineering practices across the organization.

We're looking for someone who combines strong people leadership with enough technical depth to earn credibility with senior engineers, challenge architectural decisions, and navigate the complexities of deploying into bank-controlled infrastructure.

Why This Role Matters

The Wealth Platform is our flagship product, generating a significant share of group revenue. It's deployed in hybrid environments within Tier-1 banking clients who have zero tolerance for downtime or quality issues. The engineering teams are strong but have been stretched, operating through high turnover and budget constraints without consistent senior leadership focused on their domain. As the Senior Engineering Manager you'll be the person who changes that. This role exists to bring focus, stability, and engineering excellence back to the teams that build our most important product.

What You'll Own

Delivery & Execution

  • Own end-to-end engineering delivery for the Wealth Platform across multiple squads.
  • Partner with Product to translate client commitments and roadmap priorities into executable sprint plans.
  • Identify and remove systemic blockers; improve cycle time and deployment predictability.
  • Drive operational rigor: release coordination, production readiness, post-mortems.

People & Team Health

  • Lead, develop, and retain a team of ~24 engineers. Run effective 1:1s, feedback cycles, and performance development, with real follow-through.
  • Build psychological safety while maintaining high accountability (these are not mutually exclusive).
  • Own hiring and onboarding for your domain; make the case for the people you need.
  • Actively work to improve retention and understand why people leave and fix what you can.

Technical Quality & AI Transformation

  • Champion engineering standards: code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability.
  • Support scalable hybrid architectures (on-prem + cloud) that meet banking compliance requirements.
  • Drive the adoption of AI coding tools and AI-augmented workflows within your teams, this is a strategic priority, not a nice-to-have.
  • Be technically credible enough to engage in architecture discussions and earn respect from principal-level engineers.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as the primary engineering voice for WP in discussions with Product, Client Delivery, and leadership.
  • Navigate complex client relationships and delivery commitments.
  • Communicate risks, progress, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)

  • Delivery velocity on WP stabilizes and becomes predictable, with client commitments met consistently and reliably.
  • Team retention improves measurably, with engineers motivated to stay and grow within the team.
  • AI tooling adoption is underway across WP teams, delivering tangible productivity gains.
  • Strong trust is built with Product, senior ICs, and leadership, positioning you as the go-to person for WP engineering.
  • Engineering practices improve clearly and sustainably across testing, release processes, and incident response, strengthening overall operational reliability.

What You Bring

Must-have

  • 5+ years managing engineering teams of 15+ people, including through team leads.
  • Track record of delivering complex software in enterprise or B2B SaaS environments.
  • Experience with regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, or similar) where compliance and data residency matter.
  • Strong technical foundation, you don't need to code daily, but you can read a PR, challenge a design doc, and spot architectural risks.
  • Familiarity with JVM ecosystems (Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot) or willingness to develop depth quickly.
  • Experience with hybrid deployment models (on-prem + cloud) for enterprise clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve delivery practices, team health, and engineering culture simultaneously.

Strong-to-have

  • Experience working with Tier-1 banking or asset management clients.
  • Hands-on involvement in AI/ML tool adoption for engineering teams.
  • Track record of operating effectively in a scaling company (50–200 people) with resource constraints.
  • Cross-cultural leadership experience (we operate across Switzerland, Singapore, and Poland).

Why Evooq

  • We're not a startup pretending to be enterprise, and we're not a big company pretending to be agile.
  • We are an 84-person product organization building trusted, mission-critical software.
  • Our platform supports investment advisory workflows used by the world’s largest banks. This means real constraints, real responsibility, and real impact.
  • You will have genuine ownership:
    • Not the startup version where ownership means doing everything.
    • But the version where your decisions meaningfully shape the product and the team.
  • We are in a transformation phase:
    • Moving toward AI-augmented engineering.
    • Optimizing and integrating after a merger.
    • Investing in people who want to build what’s next.
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • Hybrid work flexibility.
  • A culture that respects your time outside of work.
  • Headquartered in Lausanne, with offices in Zurich, Singapore, and Warsaw.
