Position Overview

We are seeking a DevOps Principal to lead a comprehensive third-party assessment of a client’s current DevOps operating model and architect a future-state, follow-the-sun DevOps support service. This role will act as the senior technical authority bridging an existing Ukraine-based engineering team and a new nearshore Americas team.

You will be responsible for delivering a structured assessment, defining the future DevOps organization, and ensuring seamless execution of scalable, zero-downtime DevOps operations across a rapidly growing client base. This position requires both deep technical expertise and executive-level communication skills to influence engineering and business leadership.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a structured third-party DevOps assessment covering CI/CD maturity, release operations, observability, incident management, infrastructure as code, and team structure.
  • Produce a clear, actionable assessment report including findings, recommendations, and a phased roadmap for establishing a follow-the-sun DevOps support model.
  • Establish and document operating standards, runbooks, coverage models, and handoff processes across distributed teams (Ukraine, Argentina, Mexico).
  • Define future-state team composition, seniority mix, and responsibility allocation to support scalable client onboarding.
  • Drive best practices adoption across observability (Datadog), CI/CD governance, infrastructure as code, and release management on a GCP-native stack.
  • Oversee zero-downtime release operations and multi-tenant environment management.
  • Navigate change management dynamics with existing contractor teams while maintaining a neutral, evidence-based advisory posture.
  • Collaborate closely with client engineering leadership and Motivus delivery leadership to translate assessment outputs into staffing and execution plans.


Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Platform Engineering.
  • 3+ years operating at a Senior or Principal level.
  • Proven experience leading DevOps operating model assessments or transformation engagements.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • Strong English communication skills (C1 or higher), both written and verbal.
  • Ability to present findings to technical and executive stakeholders.


Technical Skills

  • Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP): GKE, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Spanner, Firestore, PostgreSQL, Security Command Center.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, feature flags, and zero-downtime deployments in multi-tenant SaaS environments.
  • Strong command of Datadog (metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerting).
  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or equivalent).
  • Incident management frameworks, 24/7 on-call models, and escalation design.
  • Experience deploying React/Node applications in modern cloud environments.
  • Exposure to AI/LLM workloads on cloud platforms (Cloud Run + LLM integrations) is a plus.


Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Google Cloud certifications (Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect) highly valued.
  • Experience in healthcare SaaS, regulated industries, or platforms handling sensitive data is a plus.
